Experience the ultimate Alaskan adventure in this incredible Anchorage sled dog tour! Participate in Alaska's iconic sport, explore the rugged wilderness, and admire snow-covered glaciers and awe-inspiring peaks from the comfort of a helicopter. Revel in the majestic beauty of Alaska as you embark on this once-in-a-lifetime adventure!

Your journey starts with a sightseeing flight where you'll be able to take in the stunning beauty of the Alaska wilderness, the Chugach Range, Lake George, and other awe-inspiring sights. Once you arrive at the Knik Glacier, you'll get to select your Anchorage dog sled team and either take a seat on the sled or try your hand at mushing with the help of experienced mushers. After that, you can relax and spend some quality time with these incredible canine athletes before jumping back in the helicopter and enjoying another stunning scenic flight on your way to the Knik River Lodge.

Dog mushing is the Alaskan sport, and is a must-do-activity for anyone who wants to have an unforgettable experience while also enjoying stunning areal views. This could easily be the highlight of your Alaskan adventure, and thanks to Knik Glacier's excellent location, this Anchorage sled dog tour is rarely canceled due to inclement weather, unlike the helicopter and dog sled tours in Juneau and Skagway.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is snow guaranteed?
Yes! The dog camp is located on a vast snowfield atop the Knik Glacier, ensuring the dog sleds used for this tour have the necessary amount of snow to operate.
Will I get to stand and mush the dogsled team?
It's up to you! On this Anchorage sled dog tour, you can choose to stand on the runners and mush your own team of dogs, or you can sit back and relax on the sled while an experienced musher takes the reins. Whichever you choose, you'll be sure to have an unforgettable experience!
How many passengers can fit in the helicopter?
On average, each helicopter can accommodate up to six passengers, though this depends on the aircraft's weight and load capacity. Please contact us before your booking if you wish to book for a group larger than 6.
How long is this excursion?
The helicopter flight is approximately 15 minutes each way, totaling 30 minutes of aerial sightseeing. The sled dog ride is a two-mile journey, with stops for photo opportunities along the way. You will also spend one hour at the dog camp interacting with the dogs and learning from the mushers.
What if I need extra help on the tour?
Please contact us before your booking if you need wheelchair or limited mobility access so that we can discuss your needs. We take great pleasure in adapting to offer this opportunity to those who think they cannot participate in activities like this!
What should I wear?
For this dog sledding tour, layered clothing is essential for both safety and comfort. Wear a long-sleeved shirt, a sweater, and a waterproof jacket. It's also a good idea to bring gloves, a hat, and sunglasses. High-heeled shoes and sandals are not permitted. We will provide you with overboots that will enable you to traverse the glacier safely; these go over your shoes and fit best with sneakers, but boots work just as well. Don't forget to bring your camera to capture the breathtaking scenery!
What happens if the weather is too bad to fly?
The Knik Valley boasts one of the best climates in Alaska, making flights and dog sled tours rarely subject to cancelation. However, bad weather still happens, and it's impossible to predict when this will happen. If the pilots deem the weather too dangerous, we will do our utmost to reschedule your tour. If you're unwilling to reschedule or we can't find a suitable time, you'll be refunded.
