The Alaska Crab Adventure brings you one of Juneau's most unique shore excursions: a hands-on crab adventure aboard an intimate 6-passenger charter boat. This immersive experience puts you in the captain's chair as you bait, set, and retrieve your own labeled crab pots in the productive waters surrounding Juneau.
Your adventure begins at the Intermediate Vessel Float, where your captain and crew will welcome you aboard for a brief safety orientation. Each guest will help prepare their crab pot before deploying it into the waters of Southeast Alaska. Guests can expect to set, deploy, and retrieve their own gear, with the captain providing expert instruction and support every step of the way.
While the pots soak on the seafloor, enjoy a scenic cruise through Juneau's spectacular coastal waters. Watch for bald eagles soaring overhead, seals lounging on rocky outcroppings, and lush mountain scenery and remote shorelines.
The real excitement comes when it's time to pull the pots. One by one, guests step to the rail and use the pot puller or a handline to haul their crab pot from the seafloor. You never know what you'll bring up: Dungeness crab, curious sea creatures like starfish or sea urchin, or perhaps an empty pot reminding us that nature always has the final say.

Do I need a fishing license?
Yes. Guests who plan to handle or keep crab must purchase a one-day Alaska Department of Fish & Game Sport Fishing License ($15) in advance at store.adfg.alaska.gov. We recommend purchasing it the morning of your tour.
Where do we meet for the tour?
Meet at the green Taku Fisheries ice house building, located at the top of the Intermediate Vessel Float ramp at 480 S Franklin St, Juneau, AK 99801. Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled departure.
What is included in the tour?
The tour includes the hands-on crab pot experience, a scenic coastal cruise, captain guidance and instruction, light refreshments, and wildlife and mountain viewing opportunities. Fishing licenses, catch processing, and gratuity are not included.
How many people are on the tour?
A maximum of 6 passengers per trip. This is an intimate, small-group experience aboard a private charter boat.
Is there an age or weight requirement?
Guests must be at least 12 years old and weigh a minimum of 50 lbs for life jacket sizing.
What should I wear?
Alaska weather can change quickly, even in summer. Dress in layers and bring a rain jacket or something waterproof to stay warm and dry on the water.
Will I definitely catch crab?
While the captain works hard to position pots on productive crab grounds, catches are not guaranteed because you are pursuing wild Alaska resources. That is part of the authentic experience!
Can I keep the crab I catch?
Non-residents may keep a maximum of 3 Dungeness crabs. Non-residents may not keep King Crab. If you harvest legal crab, optional catch processing and shipping is available for an additional fee.
What if the weather is bad?
The tour operates in all weather conditions. The boat features a heated cabin with an onboard restroom, so you can stay comfortable even on rainy days. If conditions are truly unsafe, the operator will cancel and offer a full refund or reschedule.
What is the cancellation policy?
You may cancel up to 24 hours before the tour for a full refund. No refund is available within 24 hours of the tour. If the operator cancels due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, you will receive a full refund.

There is a 3 person minimum to run the tour. If the minimum is not met, it may result in cancellation/rebooking.
Catch processing and shipping is available for an additional fee; market price is charged on the day of your tour.
Cancel up to 24 hours the tour for a refund. No refund is available if canceled within 24 hours of the tour. If for any reason your tour is canceled, or if your cruise ship's schedule changes, you will receive a refund. Refunds do not include any non-refundable fees.
