Description
Get the thrill of an Alaskan helicopter ride without the crazy price tag that normally accompanies it on the scenic Herring Cove Helicopter excursion! This affordable 20-minute flight takes you soaring high above Ketchikan and its home Island of Revillagigedo as you travel to Herring Cove, which features beautiful views and a salmon hatchery you will see from above. As your Herring Cove Helicopter Tour flies through the skies to its destination, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for breathtaking views of Ketchikan, totem poles, and possibly even wildlife. When it comes to helicopter rides in Ketchikan, you certainly won’t find views like this at a more affordable price!
The Herring Cove Helicopter excursion begins by winding your way through Ketchikan to the take-off location, where you will receive a 10-minute safety briefing before hopping into the helicopter set to take you on your adventure. This time also includes the opportunity to take a photo with your pilot and the helicopter so you can cherish the memory for years. Once in the air, you will be treated to views of the diverse Tongass National Rainforest, and perhaps even catch a glimpse of some marine wildlife swimming through the Revillagigedo Channel, so have your cameras at the ready! Herring Cove sits at the far south end of Revillagigedo, so while many helicopter rides in Ketchikan will pass over it, they do not take the time to get a good look at the scenic inlet. With a Salmon Hatchery situated perfectly inside the cove, this is prime bear-viewing territory! Though we cannot make any guarantees, keep your eyes trained on the water to see if you can sport a hungry bear looking for its midday snack. With multiple wildlife opportunities, a scenic flight, and a low price tag, the Herring Cove Helicopter excursion easily falls among the best helicopter rides in Ketchikan!

Frequently Asked Questions
Do the flights ever get canceled due to weather?
Yes, safety is the number one priority so weather conditions are taken into account for each departure. In certain cases, the weather can lift and a slight delay will still allow the flight to continue. However, if a flight is canceled completely due to weather circumstances, you will receive a refund less any non-refundable fees.
What is our cruise ship's schedule is canceled or delayed?
We will try our best to work with you to reschedule the tour to a later time. If that is not a possibility or your ship doesn't make it into port, then you will receive a refund, less any non-refundable fees.
How big are the helicopters?
There are a few types of helicopters used for the tour, and you'll typically be in a group of 3 guests on the flight. Multiple aircraft will be used for groups larger than this.
Can you see wildlife from the helicopters?
If you have sharp eyes, it's certainly possible to see wildlife on the mountains below. The helicopter flies low enough to distinguish individual animals, but of course the pilots have to respect local wildlife so it's not an objective of this tour.
